9. In comection with proposals for construction of
wharves and other works, it was found necessary to obtala
certain information by means of soundings, borings and
current observations. It was considered that the most
sconomical method of collecting such information was that
we should make a list of what was required and leave the
aetual work of soundings, dorings, etc., in the hands of
the Public Works Department. sir Muaries Fitsmaurios
consequently handed to The Han. Director of Public Works
a letter dated 25th November, 1920, detailing the infor-
ation required, and making certain suggestions in regard
to its collection.
